We all know half of my heart is in old Spanish homes, but the other is in Craftsman.
Historic Craftsman Bungalow
Relying heavily on the British “Arts and Crafts Movement”, Craftsman homes were built from the 1890’s-1930’s. During this time period, Architects and Builders valued natural high quality materials, decorate art, and finishes that showed a mastery in craftsmanship. Craftsman homes range from large multi room homes to small bungalows.
Craftsman homes are know for their individuality, as most original bungalows were built by their owners. These homes were intended for the working man, putting function first. Gustav Stickley, the founder and editor of the Craftsman magazine spearheaded the American Craftsman movement . He insured that these homes would give working-class families the chance to have carefully constructed and practical homes.

Difference between Craftsman and Bungalow:
“Craftsman” refers generally to the Arts and Crafts movement and is considered an architectural or interior style.
Architect Frank Lloyd Wright was one of the most famous Architects who played a big part in the development of Craftsman Homes. He is said to have designed over 1000 structures over 70 years and heavily influence Southern San Diego.
Personally the home has a lot to say for its self. With detailed wood trim, built in china cabinets and kitchen nooks there is already a sense of the home feeling furnished.
It does not take much to take these homes to the next level when furnishing. I personally love light wall colors to include grey and white. This home style makes it easy to mix in mid century modern furniture, and even fun IKEA furniture that is sleek. The simple straight lines of the home allow for a bit of creativity with color.
Our form of relaxing is taking on new projects for the house. It's not work for us-it’s a true labor of love
